I have a 2004 Tahoe. Most of the lights on the steering wheel icons such as the trip information and radio controls are not lit up at night. According to my Service Manager it will cost anywhere between $400 and $600 to have them repaired. That is insane. Has anyone had a similar problem?

 

ebay vendors sell kits to solder in new leds for the temp controls. maybe they have kits for the steering wheel controls also.

I heard these were simple fixes. Let's get this to the top and see if anyone has any help. I need them on my 05 Z71 'hoe.

 

You heard wrong.

 

I repaired mine with 12v bulbs from radio shack. A 2 pack of bulbs was around 3 bucks or so. They solder in. I found a video on YouTube showing how to do the repair.

That really helps a lot. At least I can see what it is all about and go from there. Has anyone tried this for themselves besides the producers of the videos?
