Tahoe hard to start when cold
Having problems starting Tahoe when it has cooled down. Have already changed plugs, distributor cap, rotor cap, wires and fuel filter. Don't know what to check next.
Sorry it will start after turning over a few times. Starter is good because it turns over and you can hear the fuel pump buzzing also just before it turns over.
Im guessing its a 99? how many miles do you have on it?
need to check fuel pressue and may need to have the injectors cleaned try running a few bottles of techron thru the tank...

I put a new starter + Optima Red Top in my 1995 w/212,000 miles on it, and it starts like a new car! infact, it starts better than the woman's 2005 car (most likely original 3 yr old battery)
The other day it wouldn't start at ALL, tried to jump it, nothing, NO lights came on, NONE... I was like wtf?!
So i get out the tools, voltometer, wrenches, etc, thinking I need a new battery.... i check all the 'big' fuses Starter / ignition, etc
nothing's bad...
anyway, I go to unscrew the ground from the battery, and POOF, LIFE in the car, underhood light is on, etc
ok.... so I tighted down the ground + positive (Battery was installed 4 years ago) and BACK TO LIFE! that easy!
the Volt guage on the dash had been like 9-12v for the past 3-4 months, I thought it was the battery going bad... nope just a stupid loose terminal... (now reads a solid 14v, when the sterio isn't killing it) (700 watt RMS Polk amps lol)
anyway, check that, cuz I never would have thought of it until I was ready to swap the battey (even though it was 12.8v)... I had run out of other things to try

Just for grins and giggles, try this next time you start it cold. Turn the key on, wait 3 or 4 seconds for the fuel pump to charge the injectors, then turn the key to crank. My 99 did that after I changed the in-tank pump and fuel filter. Works for me. I'massuming it has air in the system somewhere.

I had this problem and almost all on-line recommendations led to Spider Injection System. It is a lot to buy and a lot to remove the old system and install the new one. So I took a chance on one recommendation given on the forum, replace the Temperature Sensor. I had a Fiero and when it was new its temperature sensor went bad. Caused a lot of havoc. Changed the sensor two days ago and all is now well with my Shivey. Hope it works for you.
