I'd make a Permanent Connector on the Vehicle, and mount the Tender in your Garage or somewhere dry, and run a Pair down to your ride, and just plug/unplug it when you needed to drive/park.
S.W., I see your point but I don't agree. Good quality units will survive just fine under the hood, there are a lot of mounting places that do get hot, but not wet, under the hood. And, plenty of battery tenders are installed in boats, not exactly cool dry environments. I like it because you have your tender at home, on vacation, wherever the car is, all you need is an outlet and extension cord.

You make a reasonable point, I was leaning to safe rather than sorry. I still might be a little protective of a unit which cost $100+.
