Throttle body problems
I am having a problem that is starting to spiral out of hand. I bought an '03 Suburban Z71, 5.3L recently after my last one, a 2002, got stolen. I am pretty familiar with with the engine, but I am not a mechanic. When I first got it, it had some of the same issues as my last one. I replaced the plugs and wires and new valve cover gaskets. This stopped the oil drips and it was time for the plugs. I had one error code for a O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1, i replaced it about 4 months ago. My current problem stated with a code for a MAF sensor. I cleaned the sensor with the can of sensor cleaner. I learned from my old rig the throttle body gets dirty and ran a lot better when I cleaned it. I pulled the throttle body and cleaned it, new gasket too. Since then I got a huge list of error codes. P0101, P0120, P0220, P0171, P0174, P1516, P2135, and as of today a P0300 code. I ran across a video that discussed the need for the throttle body to sort of reset itself if cleaned (my old suburban had a cable, not the electronic device riveted on the side). I bought a rebuild kit for the position sensor and installed it, but that doesn't seem to help. It idles rough when cold, and cut out at a stop light today and tool a little cracking to get started. I suspect this issue is more then just the TPS. I also don't know if the rebuilt kit I bought from Dorman even works. Is it better just to replace the entire throttle body if the sensor is causing a code? I checked for air leaks by spraying brake cleaner around hoses and the intake, no effect. Might be totally unrelated, but I think the purge valve might be going because of a weird buzzing noise I could hear by the gas tank, or maybe it's the fuel pump. Any thoughts would be helpful.- Thanks
