I love AZ, it's like a giant off road park....

with ATVs on the streets in Havasu, it's like the land law forgot... love it.

Well guys, I wanted to report back from my trip. Threw the family in the burb, went to Havusu, and ended up buying that boat. We pulled it home this past Monday and the Suburban did fantastic. Outside temp was 103 when we left the lake and we hit the first grade within the first hour. I put the rig in tow/haul mode and that handled everything. Took the first grade at 50 mph, and the tach sat right at 3500 (3rd gear). At the top of the grade, the trans temp was at 210. That was the highest the trans temp ever got on the trip.

I was looking at the OEM trans cooler this morning thru the front grill and can't believe how small that thing is. But... you guys here said that as long as I'm under 240 I shouldn't worry. Still, I was thinking about a Mag-Hytec transmission cover for more fluid capacity, and I was also looking at the B&M super cooler trans cooler. Do you guys feel that either one of these (or both) is necessary given the temps I was seeing? I'm sure I'll see harsher environments too as time goes on.

Here's a pic of us before the long trip home

That is a sweet set up. It looks like you have some custom rims on that 2500. You should be ok with your original transcooler set up. Just make sure you keep your fluids fresh. Enjoy

Thanks guys. The wheels are 20" Fuel Offroad Maverick D536. I did a whole write on putting the wheels and tires on in this thread: Wheel Upgrade Post #16 has all the details.
