hey guys, i am ready to buy a toy hauler, but i couldnt figure out what i can tow since i dont have a owners manual. i am kinda new with this and all the numbers on the door are confusing me. i have a 2008 suburban Lt, its a 5.3 L with a 373 gear ratio. i asked several people and i get tons of different answers incl the dealership.??!!?
so here are my questions:
1. how much can i tow/ how much would you tow to feel comfortable with?

2. how much can i load into the truck?

Without going into all the variables; if you have 4wd without the towing package the max trailer weight is 6200lbs. The max weight or gcwr of the loaded truck and trailer is 12000lbs.

For loading the vehicle the information is on the tire placard sticker on the driver b-pillar.

you can tow an additional 1000lbs with the tow package.

yes, thanks guys!! u were right tech2, its 7200 just like u said to add 1000 with the towing package ;-)....
and thanks for the manual, it just varifies what tech said!!
then i dont know what the number of 7400 lbs towing means on the B-pillar? i just go with the 7200 to stay on the safe side...
using a toy hauler you fill up water and gas at the last stop close to your destination, how much would u go over that max towing for that to be safe?
this may sound stupid but i never pulled a hauler before and have no experience with it, so everything you guys know is helpful for me thanks for the help!!!

 

Just keep in mind, that you need to reduce the load in your Burb by the Hitch Weight of the trailer's total weight, which is usually 10% given it's a Box/Flat trailer.
(For Recreational Trailers, the hitch weight is usually 15% of the trailers total weight)

If you don't think this is important, then you've never encountered an upwardly mobile Hiway/Weight Patrol Officer !

 

thanks for the info, like i said i am new to this and everything helps here. here are some facts. besides here i contacted several chevy dealers, 2 said i have 8000 lbs and 1 said 7900lbs...anyway, my trailer weighs 5400, my load with atv's and equipment is a aditional 1300, so my total trailer weight is 6700 dry. according to ur calculation i have to take 670-1000 off my total load capacity of the burban.right? which leaves me with about 600 to load into my burban?
