TPMS Sensor Going Bad?
The sensor is probably not going bad. If the DIC it is showing low pressure, then quits showing low pressure after driving a while that is because the tire (and the air in the tire) is warming up. When this happens the air tries to expand but since it is in the tire the pressure rises and the DIC quits showing a low pressure. I recently had a Chevrolet dealer mechanic tell me that accurate gauges generally register about 4 pisg higher than the DIC readings (I live in Denver, CO, elevation 5280 ft.). According to him this is due to the elevation. Since the sensor is inside the tire it probably measures psia and not psig. The computer in the DIC is probably subtracting 14.7 (the atmospheric pressure at sea level) to give a "psig" reading and therefore at any elevation above sea level the DIC will be giving a lower reading than a normal tire guage. Anyway that is what I suspect. I haven't done so yet but next time I drive over the Divide I will stop and check tire pressure and compare it to the DIC readings to see if the error increases.
I'm getting an issue where it has the 'check tire pressure' warning light, and a singular tire reads anywhere from 1 PSI to 90 PSI, even though they are all properly inflated. The PSI reading greatly fluctuates, or even reverts back to the correct reading.
I've reset the system, with the key/horn/adjusting process, but the problem returns after a little driving. The really strange thing is, is that one time i reset the tires in the wrong order, which resulted in the system thinking that an alternate tire now has the roblem.... Basically, whatever tire i reset 3rd, the system thinks that is the particular tire with the problem.
Any ideas? Does this mean that i should change the sensor in the tire intended to be reset 3rd, when done correctly? (passenger rear)?

tyrexden welcome to the forum...
Might try taking your vehicle to a local reputable tire shop, they should have the tool needed to check the status of each of the sensors battery... I know Discount Tire will do it for free..
If you have not already tried disconnecting the vehicle battery to reset everything you might try that as well....

You can replace w/o dismounting & rebalancing by breaking the bead & replacing the sensor. 4 sensors on eBay are about $145.
But from your description of the problem doesn't sound like sensor problem.

What else could cause the reading to go crazy? The issue first occured on a long road trip in which i had some heavy people in the car.... The vehicle also hisses when i go over speedbumps, as if the shocks are making a noise. Could faulty shocks make a wheel turn slower than it should, tricking the TPMS into thinking that the pressure is off?
Heavy people in the vehicle should not cause any issues with the tire pressure...
The hissing is likely the shocks doing there job cushioning the ride...
I would again suggest that you have the sensors scanned to make sure they are working correctly and that the batteries are not dying on them causing the issues....
