Default tranny swap

The tranny in my 99 4x4 burb just **** the bed while towing my camper on vacation. it is the 5.7 / 4l60e but i was wondering how much would be involved in swaping in a 4l80e. has anyone done this? what year trucks are compatible?

Thanks

Andy

I found a guy locally that is parting out a 93 2500 pickup that has a recently rebuilt 4l60e. my question is will it swap into my 99 burb? both vechices have 5.7 motors, i just don't know if there are any differences in the years. any help would be great

Thanks

I'm not positive, but I thinl the output shaft is larger and you may want his transfer case as well.
Don't hold me to that, I'm sure a tech will chime in.
You may want to post this in the General Tech section.
