Default Trans oil cooler

Forgive me if this question has already been answered but i did not see that it had been addressed so here goes.
I have a 2008 tahoe ltz. My transmission went out a few months ago and my engine threw a code that suggests the timing chain is failing. I know that the 2 issues are unrelated, but since i have both to address i have opted to replace both engine and trans with remans from powertrain. my question is regarding the trans. . .is it necessary to replace the trans oil cooler when i replace the trans or can it be flushed. The trans failing was not accurately diagnosed and after wasting 700.00 on a repair attempt i decided to cut the losses and just replace it. So i dont know if the fluid is contaminated or not. Any heads up would be appreciated.

Not familiar with your setup, but, if the transmission failed, I'd either replace the cooler, or remove it,and have it flushed seperate. IMO.

Stacked plate coolers like the factory uses can not be properly flushed and must be replaced, at least that is my understanding.

Your cooler is not part of the radiator?
