Default Transmission Issue - 2007 Suburban 1500 4wd

2007 Suburban 1500 LT 4WD 230k miles. Recent transmission fluid service in August.

My wife was driving our old burb home today when it dropped out of drive with a loud clunk and will now only go into 1st, 2nd and R.

I’m assuming this is going to require a transmission rebuild. I do 99% of our repairs, but dropping the transmission is probably where I draw the line. Any avenues worth pursuing before taking it to the shop?

What I seem to have found looks like it is going to require a rebuild or clutch pack? Not sure what to do here and any guidance is appreciated.

Sounds like the forward sprag broke. Inexpensive part but you still have to disassemble the transmission to get to it. I did mine myself. Getting the trans out then back in is the most difficult part. The rest is easy. Might as well replace the clutch packs and the steel parts that have the rubber molded to them.
