i have a 97 4wd tahoe and am having issues with the transmission. the transmission is stuck in 3rd gear and my speedo and tach go to zero. i checked the obdII and i get codes p0740 and p0753. it only happens when i start the truck up. it only happens after the truck has been off. also the gear indicator light flickers and the check gauges light comes on. if i clear the codes it drives fine as long as the engine is running. and sometimes it doesnt do it. anybody else have this problem?

 

Guess you will only get it at GMs partstore directly... so no need to know the number, just give them your VIN and they will order it for you.
Replaced it at mine 01 Burban too - if I'm right, it was 23$ or so....

my wife and i have a 2007 tahoe 82000 miles trans went out last weekend ,we have the 100,000 powertrain warranty but doesnt cover rental car and only towing to closest dealer.In our case the closest dealer couldnt look at it for 4 weeks,they wont cover towing fee to another dealer luckily i own a car trailer and a duramax and towed to dealer closer to home they ve had it for 4 days and should be done next week owned chevy only but very disapointed with service and thinking of shopping other manufacture .Who plans on renting a car for 4 weeks while their 3 year old 50.000$ vehicle gets warranty work done

 

I would unplug the harness that runs into the transmission. Sounds like it may not be snapped into place. spray the contacts with cleaner.
