Sorry for coming across so blunt, but being an auto broker for the last5 1/2 years, I have seen a lot of ill advised auto purchases. This sounds like one.The fact that the dealer put $1600 into the truck just so you'd buy it is a red flag to me. Your situation deserves the attention of the dealer that sold you the car, not the trans shop. What did the $1600 fix?? Do they have reciepts?? Did they warranty those fixes?? I'd also say the warranty that came with the truck is crap. Only 1 month/ 1000 miles with a $750 cap and $100 deductible= $650 in claim payments, not a stellar warranty. A standard warranty put on buy most reputable dealers is 3 months or 3000 miles on the powertrain. It should cover 100% parts and labor. The $100 deductible is pretty standard. That is why buying from a large or franchised dealer is usually safest. A lawyer is going to be a waste of money too. You may as well put that $$ into the truck. Vehicle transactions are pretty much cut and dry in most states, unless fraud has occured. That is usually tied to defrauding customersby trying to clean titles or change odo miles. You need to prove negligence. I hope it all works out for you. Maybe finding a used trans to install in your truck is a cheaper solution.

Yes the Dealership (as I stated in a previous post) provided me with WHO did the work, WHEN they did the work and HOW MUCH it cost them.
This Dealership has been in business 18 years, as has the Transmision shop.
both my wife and I were treated with kindness and understanding. There was no high pressure sales.
If worse comes to worse, we may off er to pay half the repairs.
He's already offered to pay $750.00, if he'll come up to $1K, then most likely will pay the other $1K ($2K total for the Transmission repair). The Transmission shop gaurentees there work for 12 months.
At this point I just want the Tahoe repaired and back with me.
It's a beautiful Truck and I think It'll provide alot of years worth of enjoyment.
My posting was just to gett the opinions of other Tahoe owners and not to start anything with anybody.
Quite frankly, if I were working then we'd have 2 incomes and this whole thread would be a mute point.

Update...
The Transmission shop ponied up for another $200.00
Bottom line was my wife and I had to pay $1100.00 for the Transmission rebuild.
He put in a rebuilt/remanufactured Torque Converter, completely rebuilt the tranny and put a Shift Kit in it along with a12 Month/12000 Mile warranty. The Truck shifts VERY firmly and both my wife and I are happy to have it back. Just for clarification, Wag had said that the Dealership had done "all the repairs" to sell it to me.
When in fact, my wife and I saw it the DAY AFTER they has acquired it.
So during the 10 days before I took ownership of it, was when it went through there Safety/Smog Check.
That's when they changed out the Front Windshield (it was cracked), All new tires, Front pads, New Drivers Side Electric Mirror, Took out the Drivers seat and restitched the Leather and fixed a reclining problem, had the Valvebody replaced in the Transmission and had the Radiator re-cored.
All that was done on their Dime to the tune of $1600.00 and was AFTER my wife & I had signed the papers to buy it.
