I added the oem camerato the factory nav but now i have these wavy lines on the screen when the camera is on screen. Does anybody have any idea what they can be or better yet how to get rid of them.

 

Just a guess but maybe a bad shield connection on the video line.

 

Ok. So how would i go about connecting the sheild wire?

 

I had the same problem until i soldered all the connections. I have the ground connected to a screw on the body of the car and the power coming from the reverse light

 

Did you install the GM camera and if so what did you do with the bare wire in the cameras wire harness. And how exactly did you solder the wires? End to end or did you twist them together and then solder them and. Did you solder at the harness behind the radio also? I Powered my camera with the reverse lights also but i grounded to them bcm ground under the steering column. I tried a different ground but still had the same effect.

 

Try attaching the bare wire to ground. It will help filter out some noise that may enter the video feed circuit

didn't mess with any bare or drain wires. just twist and soldered all the wires. Used a old serial cable from the tailgate to the right reverse light. Used a screw next to right taillight for ground.

 

I have the OEM camera. I ran the serial cable through the tail gate. I soldered a female rca jack at the end of the serial cable. At the same end, I used a old cellphone charger ( 5volts but still works great) to power the OEM camera. I cut the end off the car charger, soldered the endsto the serial cable, then heat shrink the connection.
