Hello out there. My son and I have been cruising our project vehicle for close to two weeks now. The 454 big block sounds great and runs smooth.
We've noticed that the shifting is gradually getting worse over time. The tranny fluid is definitely dirty and needs to be changed.
Today I drove the suburban to a transmission shop and asked for their opinion on our shifting problem. They had it for a few hours and recommended getting a used or new 4L80-E transmission.
I was just curious for those of you who have purchased new transmissions. Where did you buy it? What did you pay for the tranny and the labor to install? Should i be looking at buying a transmission cooler or a larger tranny pan? Did any of you install a temperature gauge for your transmission?
