Default Wheel locks

My Mcgard wheel lock key went missing however went to the dealer and they were to give me a Mcgard key part number using the VIN. I bought one used from eBay but didn’t set on the lock correctly. Went back to the dealership they tried there key on the lug and it didn’t fit snug. The result was tap it in place with a hammer so it will seat? Anyone else run into this or similar problem?

In the late 1970s I bought a set of used Mag wheels for my VW (I still have the wheels and the VW). So I bought a set of McGard wheel locks; there were different security designs and "key sockets", each had a special number. So maybe these days there still are quite a few different key sockets for wheels, and you'd need to either get correct socket from McGard or have yours removed and either regular lug nuts or new locking lugs installed.

Contact McGard, talk to a real person, might need to send in a really good photo of your locking lug nut.
