when 6 speed tranny comes out, will an upgrade be available?
Z, When they introduce the 6 speed transmission on newer model 5.3 Tahoes, will the engine be significantly different, or will upgrading the transmission be available? On my old 01, the 4 speed was fine, but the new suburban really could use the extra gears for performance and potentially efficiency.

No major engine changes but it will be one more year (2009) before we see the 6-speed in the Tahoe and Suburban 1500.
MPG will be about the same as the 4-speed, the primary benefit is a bit more seamless acceleration and a broader range of gears to select from when you hit a hill.
The 08 Tahoe Hybrid should be the hot seller when it is introduced around the first of the year.
