Default Wipers "freeze" and start up again?

Hey guys 2002 Burb LT. My wife started the wipers with heavy snow and they stopped working, I changed out the fuse but now they are working off and on. They work for a minute or two and freeze for about a minute then start working again for another 5-10 seconds. According to the manual, the motor can overheat but this has been weeks ago the initial "snow" thing happened. Maybe it's the motor, a mechanic told me it could be some sort of control board that causes the delay feature to have issues. No clue where to go from here. Thoughts?

I would take the mechanics advice and change the wiper motor. It sounds like the control board in the motor is bad.

I'll second the motor change. There is a ''circuit'' breaker in the motor board to protect the motor from lock ups like heavy snow and it probably has gotten weak causing the stop/starts.
