I have just taken over care of a 2002 suburban from my father in law who can no longer drive. The battery was shot. I replaced it and everything started right up and ran fine, EXCEPT the security alarm keeps chiming unless the car is running. I have read all about the passcode system and fuel pump and all runs and works fine except for this chime. How do I get it to stop or reset the security, or is something else wrong.

Security chime? Please provide a better explanation as I have never seen/heard of a factory security chime. Is it the key reminder or headlight on chime?

 

The security light flashes on the dash and the chime goes off like door is open or key is in ignitioin. Is it an idiot chime for somehing being left on in the car and alerting me of something. Like I said, not my car so not familiar with it. When car is running doesnt chime. Turn key off and chimes. Lights lwft on, dome light. The security light flashing is what has me stumped.
