Default '95 tahoe a/c problems

Need help with a/c problem. while driving with a/c on, it will cool for awhile and then out of nowhere it will stop cooling and the compressor clutch stops turning. have any ideas to what is causing this. It is not low on freon, I know that much. sometimes you can wiggle the wire on the accumulator and it will start working again(sometimes)!
Thanks!

the switch is on the receiver/dryer (big cylinder looking thing next to the fire wall passengers side) this switch resides on the low side of the system and tells the clutch when to cycle........to test the switch you can take an all metal paper clip and jump the harness and see if that solves your problem...if it does then you have a bad switch...you say its not low on freon...did you have it checked with a set of gauges? what you are describing is common of a low charge or bad cycling switch

I have a 96 tahoe and the a/c will just kick on and then kick off. i doesnt matter if i have the air on or not. I just un plugged the connector from the compressor untill i figure out the problem. Do you think i could have a bad clutch cycling switch? Also it will idle up when u put it in park, not sure if that has anything to do with the compressor or not? thanks

Short cycling is one sign of low freon charge.
