Question 97 Suburban 1500 5.7L with front left brake caliper stuck in open position

My 97 Burb's front left brake caliper sticks in the open position. Brake fluid can get to the caliper for braking; but once pressure from the pedal is relieved, the brake fluid is not able to get out of the caliper so that the caliper can close. Has anyone had this problem? If so what was the cause of the problem? Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum.

Most likely cause is either a collapsed brake hose acting as a check valve or caliper is sticking. Replace the hose and check the caliper while it's off.

If you open the bleeder and depress the pedal, fluid should squirt out. Be sure to close the bleeder before you let the pedal back up so you don't suck air into the system. If fluid did not come out you have a problem upstream in the line somewhere. If fluid did squirt out, and I bet it does, your caliper is the problem. The pins may need grease or the caliper is bad
