Default 99 leaks in rain

Water comes in to fan cowling and drips into passenger floorboard on 99 suburban in rain. I took cowling off hood and cleaned debris then flooded with hose but she stayed dry. It's not ac water as ac dosent run. Thought maybe rain water was running thru ac drain in firewall but dosent appear to be. Can't recreate and can't figure out where water is coming from. Someone suggested windshield gasket. I'm going to seal around the drain tube in firewall to be sure as I know that was a Mitsubishi issue. But I really need to find source. Isn't there an air intake behind hood cowling? If so I could not find it. I'm stumped.
