Stoplight switch on -96 Tahoe
Hi guys!
Got yet another Chevy, a -96 Tahoe. This one was given to me because it needed some care. Left to fix is the stoplight.
All three stoplights gave up on it, even the trailer stoplight is out of order. I want to check and/or replace the stoplight switch.
Where do I find it?
How do I remove it?

This is what the stoplight switch looks like. Does anybody know what color wire to measure on to see if the microswitch inside is OK?
I can se how the switch is attached, but there is no way I can pry it loose. I can also see the actuator on the brake pedal arm move the button on the microswitch.
Today I have been wrestling to try to reach the switch, to no avail! One way might be to remove the driver's seat (to make room for myself) and then remove the steering column bracket and THEN perhaps be able to remove the stoplight switch.
Or is there a better way?

Yes it's clipped on, but it is also secured on a perpendicular axle with a spring clip . And I can't pry it off.
I now know that the orange wire is the lead and the white wire is supposed to deliver electricity to the brake lamps. But it doesn't. So the switch is defect and needs to be replaced.
My, oh why did they hide it so well?
Insert strong wording of your choice here. I did!
