Default 1992 Tracker Clutch Troubles :/

Bit of a rushed purchase on my end but I've just purchased a 92 tracker with a new clutch and 65000kms on the new engine.

I test drove it for about 10 mins and it drive well the clutch was a tad soft but disengaged quickly and didn't slip. Perfect seems good to me went through the gears got it to Highway speeds and it held fine.

I bought it and on the way home it started to grind going into 1st and would creep forward with clutch fully pressed. Then a couple lights later it wouldn't go into any gear except reverse when I ground it in to get out of the lane. It was as though the clutch want disengaging. After waiting (read cussing) for ten minutes I started it again and it shifted like it did originally. I get home and right as I'm pulling in it does it again.

Thing's I've done:I have bought a Haynes manual and adjusted the cable the previous owner had it ran right tight so it would start disengaging immediately.

After adjusting it the gears grind while cold like it did while hot where it feels like the clutch isn't fully disengaging. This makes me think he did this on purpose and when he put the clutch in made some sort of mistake.

The cable seems to be working fine. Any advice? I feel like I'll be pulling a clutch soon I just want to know what may have been done wrong before I start throwing parts at it.

Are you sure the previous owner did in fact install a new clutch and throw-out bearing on this vehicle? Was the flywheel changed as well?
