>> my drain nipple is hard plastic through the firewall
The hard plastic nipple needs a short piece of rubber hose to extend its length. Without the short extension hose the condensate will drip inside the car.

I don't think you need to remove the case. The hose is only an inch long. The hose and the associated hose clamp are removed from the engine bay.

Nate-
I still can't see your posts here but I did check the A/C temp at the center vent on my Tracker this morning. The outside temperature was 82°F.

The vent temp was 41°F in less than one mile of driving.

I did see it flash 39° for a second. Keep in mind the temps will be lower when the car is moving and outside air is forced over the condenser coil.

SKY: I have felt the nipple on the firewall as I said it’s hard plastic and has no wiggle or movement. It doesn’t look like you’re photo! So I’m not seeing A easy fix

Yes but ;

The important question is : does it have the short bit of thin wall drain hose ? .

I got a surprise when I reached down to examine the condensate drain this morning.

My condensate drain has a "hose clamp." I assumed it was clamping a short rubber hose to the condensate nipple. That turns out not to be true. The "hose clamp" and the diverter are one piece. The "rubber hose" I thought I was looking at turns out to be the hard plastic nipple from the condensate pan. I'm assuming you don't have the metal diverter anymore.
