My gearshift is stuck and won’t go in reverse on my 2000 Chevy tracker 2.0 4x4, please help!

 

If you are parked on a hill it can sometimes be dificult to get out of park. Maybe have some strong friends rock the vehicle and try to shift - but don't run them over in the process!!

 

How many miles? Does it have enough trans fluid?

Does that mean it's stuck in park? If so, you may have a faulty shift-lock circuit.


Follow the instructions below to manually release the shift-lock.



The "return plate" is in the vicinity of the red square.

First verify it's a shift-lock problem. Manually release the return plate and ensure the shifter comes out of park. If the shifter goes in every other gear position after it's unlocked you have verified it's a shift-lock problem.
