Tracker1989-2004
This compact SUV proved itself to be a fine ecnomical vehicle, good for making its way along any type of surface. Platform: CAMI (Suzuki)
I bought my Tracker in January of 2001. It rolled off the CAMI assembly line in 2000. I'm not a mechanic and my rear brake adjusters are still original so I have no personal experience with replacing the adjusters, but the documentation I have says there is only one style of adjuster for the 2001 Tracker. If you have contradictory documenttion I would love to have a copy. You can post it here or send it to me privately.
These are the GM part numbers I am aware of.
To the best of my knowledge the GM an-d Suzuki parts are the same. If I'm wrong I want to know.[/QUOTE]
L84sky- I only found this out because my brother has researched it and told me it could possibly be interchangeable. He looked up my Vin and said mine was manufactured before the change, so it isn't compatible. This information is not readily available and even the dealership didn't show two different style brakes, but the diagram they sent to my mechanic is not the same as the one you just posted. This is what Chevy dealership sent to my mechanic
This is what I found on a Suzuki forum. https://www.suzuki-forums.com/thread...ts-not-i..Rear
I found a 2002 4 door today and was able to get the left rear drum off, the provided like shows everything, glad I took the time to grab all those little pieces .
? Is there a link to how to do the rear brakes ? lots of little bits in there and not much space to work around the axle hub .
I'm amazed at how beefy the drums are, I used the left one to try and beat the right one off, it moved a tiny bit but I had to leave it .
I SCORED BIGGLY AT HE JUNKYARD TODAY ! GOT A WHOLE BUNCH OF PRISTINE INTERIOR PLASTIC PARTS AND SOME UNDERHOOD BITS AND BOBS TOO =8-) .
The question was which rear brake adjuster fits her 2001 Tracker.
The early models have a shoulder on the star wheel. The later models do not.
My chevrolet has the older style adjuster. Are you sure the suzuki adjuster will not work with it? Im having a hard time finding one. Mine goes on the rear passenger side.
>> Are you sure the suzuki adjuster will not work with it?
No, I am not sure. I don't know anyone who's tried it. Maybe it's a worth a few bucks to find out. I sure would like to know since I too have the old style. All I do know is the old and new styles are very different. Maybe the new style adjuster can be modified (if needed) to work with the old style. Please post a progress report if you try it.
>> The rear drum shoe adjuster on newer Chevys like my 2022 Silverado has been a bit of a pain to adjust for some guys
The issue was ever about adjustment. The problem is Tracker (rebadge Suzuki Grand Vitara) parts are hard to find because Suzuki's have not been sold in North America since 2013. Chevrolet quit selling Tracker parts in 2008. The problem is even worse for Trackers/Vitara's manufactured before 2002. Even Suzuki doesn't make brake parts for them anymore.
