You don't give much information. Many things could cause this problem. When was the last time it had a tune up? Give us more!

try a throttle body clean. if that does not work, check the iac valve if it has one...depends of the model year

2003 with recent occurrence rough/drop in idle .... now, doesn’t go away...... Noticed something very interesting; when sitting still and Trans in Neutral, and turning on fan switch with defrost, etc position, the “rough idle/stall condition commences and goes away when turning the switch OFF.

It seems that I’m chasing a Vacuum problem....... engine runs fine otherwise. Ideas???

The link between the rough idle and the blower switch is the "Blower Idle-Up" signal going to PCM. Either the G201 ground is not getting to the PCM, the PCM is not processing it or the IAC is not responding to the PCM.

Blower Idle-up signal.

Super Thanks for quick! We will check it out tomorrow.....

I am new to this site...... I have an 03’ AUTO and 02’ MAN....... both, 2dr Soft Top 4x4...... thinking to sell the 03’ only because I prefer the MAN TRANS......

i think Trackers are very neat vehicles...... this Idle situation is very recent. Thanks, Dan

Still don’t exactly have this “rough idle/low vac” issue resolved....... Bottom line, with no AC , HEAT/Defrost, etc....ALL OFF.... pull up to stop and with brake only applied and trans @ “D” or “R” if leaving parking space...... Engine “shudder/stalls”, but, does not die. Engine has good power and runs fine except at a stop. This is a recent change. Automatic Trans, Airconditioning, 4x4, 2dr Tracker and 160,000 miles.

The HVAC blower is only one of six idle-up inputs to the PCM. All of then are handled the same way: the PCM sends a signal to the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor to allow more air into the throttle body (increasing idle speed). If your IAC is not responding, you have six different conditions that can cause rough idle.

Default Camshaft Position Sensor

So I had the rough idle/stalling when warm issue for years. Threw so many parts at it: MAF, EGR, O2, IAC.. Seafoamed, checked vacuum lines, cleaned cleaned and cleaned some more.. still stalled when I was stuck idling... Finally, when searching the internet as I have done many times before, I searched a new keyword or something and came across an UNVISITED LINK.. I’m talking years of searching...

Camshaft Position Sensor, $20, tends to fault with heat when they’re old.. though I did replace the assembly for $100, I’m sure just replacing the sensor itself would’ve worked... 6 months and hasn’t stalled since, the little beast is reliable again!

Thanks. It's always nice when people post successful results of their hard work, among the myriad of HELP MEs.
