I have a 2001 tracker, at idle it sounds like a diesel engine, no engine lights on and runs fine on the road. would a camshaft position sensor cause this? I've checked the fan clutch, water pump, oil flows just fine, looking for ideas.

 

I would put lifter quiet in it, my uncles had sticky lifters and it helped so far. . .
