Tracker1989-2004
This compact SUV proved itself to be a fine ecnomical vehicle, good for making its way along any type of surface. Platform: CAMI (Suzuki)
I have a 1999 Chevrolet Tracker 2.0L L4.
I just purchased recently am looking to change the spark plugs as i'm sitting at 158k km's and feel it's due since i'm not sure when it was last done and wondering what else I should do at the same time. I will look to change the boots and ignition coils as well.
Are there spark plug wiring in this year and model? The boot fits directly into the computer rather than most models that have a wire attached....I feel like i'm missing something here and haven't been able to find much information on google / or parts for that matter / for this year and model vehicle.
If someone could give me a quick idea of what I should be searching / replacing at the same time as my spark plugs to ensure all is set for years to come that would be much appreciated!!
Thanks!! This x 4 and ruthenium spark plugs x 4 anything else i should be replacing at the same time? Is there extra wiring?
Your engine has a Coil-On-Plug (COP) ignition system. Instead of one coil running through a distributor, your engine has four coils --- one in each of the plug boots you posted
a picture of. This eliminates the failure points found in a distributor, rotor, points, HEI module and those those pesky spark plug wires you are used to seeing in older cars.
