Tracker Starting Problem
This is a 1996 Tracker that will usually spin the motor and start. Occasionally it will not turn the motor over when the ignition key is turned to START. The battery has been replaced as well as the battery cable to the ground. The positive lead has had the lead battery connector replaced at the same time. The leads were replaced or repaired when it started this. We have tried sliding the shifter back and forth while holding the key to start. That had no effect, that starter would not turn over. But go and try again at a later time and the vehicle would turn over first time.
I think the problem might be in the Starter Relay shown on page 6D2-2 of volume 1. The relay is shown as item 7. The problem I have is that the electrical diagnosis on page 8A30-1 Volume 2 does not show such a relay as existing. Also, no other diagnostics pages show or mention such a relay. I do not understand. Does anyone know what I am talking about??? The pages mentioned here are from the Factory Service Manual for the 1996 GEO Tracker. I believe that the 1996 Suzuki Sidekick was very similar.
