'06 Trailblazer issue
I been noticing since I bought this, that when I turn the ignition key to start it, sometimes but not all the time, it does nothing for a split second, then cranks over and starts normally. It appears to me, when this happens is when the traction control light comes on. Lately I been trying this, to see if it helps and so far it has. When I turn the ignition key on, I am not turning it to the start position. I wait for all the check lights to go out, then I turn the key to start it and the 3-4 times I have tried this so far, NO hesitation on turning over. I asked the tech about the hesitation before cranking over, sometimes and he told me that shouldn't have anything to do with the traction control light coming on. I figured just that slight hesitation, would mess with the computers reading stuff correctly but I am no mechanic. Just trying different stuff to see if by chance, it helps. Dealers going to fix the problem with the traction control light coming on, and they believe its the EBCM computer (module), I just need to get the truck down to them when the light is on.
A quick update on the above post. Finally was able to get my TB down to the dealership and they determined it was the Steering wheel position sensor. They installed it yesterday and though its only been 2 days, the lights have not reappeared as of yet. We'll see.
Glad you found the problem, these things can be tricky. I have a 2004 trailblazer and replaced the thermostat and housing a few months back. Had to disconnect the battery and alternator to get to it cuz of where it is mounted. Not fun to get to that was for sure. It was causing my check engine light to come on and the truck did not run as hot as it should, although it did run fine. So after getting it all fixed myself the truck began to run horrible when I put the heat on. when running and the heat was on it would stall out and not run, the dealership had it for nearly a week and could not find the problem. Finally after being on the phone with tech support at GM and going over all the wiring they found the problem in the steering column. it was part of the ignition that caused the running issue after I fixed the other problem. It was weird and had the dealership even stooped. They have never seen that happen before with the problem that I originally had.
I have the same problem with traction control. If you dont mind me asking what did it run to get it fixed?Am moving to Aurora Co and want to be sure it wont give ma any problems. please reply to tdrennie@hotmail.com
thank you
thank you
The dealership actually fixed it for free as it was acting up, shortly after I purchased the vehicle. If I remember correctly, the steering wheel position sensor runs around $90. Its located under the steering column. NO issues still. Hope this helps.
