2002 Trailblazer Serpentine Breaks / No 4WD
Serpentine belt snapped. Had a shop replace it. Now no 4WD and also lost rear wipers. Garage said their work would not have caused no 4WD / no rear wipers. My question is, is there any way the broken serpentine caused the 4WD and rear wipers to stop working?
Thank you.
Thank you.
When the belt broke, did it mess up any wires or wiring harnesses? Damage to the electrical connector for the 4WD disconnect on the passenger side of the oil pan is about the only thing I can think of for the 4WD. You didn't specify which engine you have, but I'm assuming the 4.2L I6.
Electrical wiring getting damaged is the only thing I can think of.

Hi, thanks, they did say they had to clean a lot of rubber from the steering pump. (By the way, my time for re registering was about up and inspection had expired last year! Otherwise, I would have changed the belt myself.) But the fact remains, after their repair, I lost 4WD and rear wipers, both of which I used regularly.

Yes, thanks, 4.2L. Here's the thing. I had been experiencing, I think, a ground problem. When I switched on the bright by pulling the lever in towards me, the truck would stall. And one headlight is brighter the the other. I asked the shop to check into that, so I think they would have found damage to the harness wiring (?). By the way, they never did locate the problem and charged me for the time to try and find it.

Since they almost certainly are responsible for damaging your vehicle, I wouldn't pay them a dime. In fact, I'd send them a bill for the work they screwed up on. I don't pay for nonprofessional services, and I never will. They damaged something, since your vehicle operated normally before they touched it. Contact the Bureau of automotive repairs, if you have one, and file a complaint against them.

Hi, thanks for your thoughts on this. The shop is Turner Auto Care, Webster, NY. Since 1968. I hate to tell you what the bill was. They kept adding on repairs. I finally had to demand they cap it off. I'm not sure what to do. Maybe I should tell them, if they don't fix the 4WD, I'll post factual reviews online and file a complaint.
Yeah, thanks, I'll call them again and tell them that. They had said their work had nothing to do with 4WD but they'd be glad to check their work. But that is no guarantee they'll fix the 4WD. And will likely waste my time.
