Default trailblazer stuck in park, indicator says neutral

I turned it on today and put it in drive, but it
stayed in neutral. I put it back and park but it
stayed in neutral and now the shifter is stuck in
Park, but the indicator still says neutral. When I
push the brake to allow it to come out of park, it
never makes the clicking noise of the release and
the button cannot be pressed. Any ideas what
could be causing this?

On my Trailblazer the shifter linkage came apart where it connects to the transmission. I have heard that this is common and only the complete is sold. It is hard to replace the cable. I drilled a hole through the small rod the linkage connects to and put a small shoulder bolt in there to hold the linkage end in place.

It sounds like your shift cable is broken from being frayed.

I'm not familiar with trailblazer, But it is odd that the indicator inside doesn't change. Is it wired or digital display readout?

So your car starts but you can't drive because there's nothing to shift into? Does the shifter feel free moving without resistance?
