2011 Traverse Roof Rail Air Bag
Very unhappy Traverse owner here.
Been in the shop 11 times this year for recalls and bs.
Statement: The recent recalls on the air bag system and associated issues with such, I took my Traverse to dealer with air bag light on.
Reading from tech: Full Dio only code was 0016 drivers roof rail air bag checked resistance in loop 11, reading 6.4 ohms, out of specs.
The question: Could the resistance reading be out of specs due to the recall? The reason for the recall was bad connectors in the air bag system allowing moisture into the wiring. Could this have affected the above issue.
I have multiple calls to GM HQ and arguing for all the owners out there about the recall should encompass the whole system, not just connectors.
Thanks

good question...the sdm is the answer and it usually in a central location of the vehicle. It is under the seat for the pickups but may be under the center console for your vehicle....now you have me wondering.
Tech 2,
Thanks for your reponses. See that is the question and why I am on GMAC rear about this. If the connections are made under the driver side seat and was involved in the recalls of the soldering etc. Then if there is a problem with the resistance in the loop 11, could that not be a resultant effect of the problem I am having.
I understand that it may be a different loop. However, if they had to soldier these connectors on this loop, and if moisuture got in prior to soldering, then this should be covered.
Probably will never win this argument. But damn 1100 dollars to fix this problem is not want I want to pay right now. lol

the connectors in the recall are not close the the main harness for the roof airbag. they could dunk these wires underwater then solder and shrinkwrap them and it would not cause this fault.
I checked and confirmed that the sdm is under the center console. I took a look at the body harness wiring routing for the passenger compartment. It appears to run from the center console out to the door sill and up the door pillars to the roof air bag. When it passes the drivers seat a wiring harness branches out to the seat connector. the seat harness, as per the recall, is now hardwired and the connector removed. The section in question is all under the carpet and matting, only the branch for the seat is above the floor; any wires for anything else stay contained under the mat. I have done this recall and don't see how they could be damaged. Anything is possible I guess.
What part do they want to replace, a wiring harness?
