Help with OBD codes
Hi All,
So here’s the long & short of it:
In early February the Check Engine light came on in my Sons 2016 Traverse LS. I checked it with a code reader and it was throwing a P0031 code. Took it in to Chevy (dealer) and they found the wire leading to the #1 bank #1 O2 sensor fried. They replaced the sensor and all was well until about a week ago.
Check engine light is back on and now throwing P0131, P0132. I should point out that the car is running fine with no apparent problems. Took it in again and so far they have been unable to locate the cause.
They checked the #1 O2 sensor and said it was fine. Checked wiring harness re: TSB 18-NA-009 looking for a leak above the harness from the power steering hose, but all was well.
They cleared the codes, drove the car 20+ miles but couldn’t get the codes to recur. Suggested they keep the car for a couple of days to continue the process but my Son needs it to get back to college.
In the meantime they have opened a Technical Assistance Case with Chevy to see if they have any solutions. They hope to have an answer from TAC by 9/7.
Within less than a hour of leaving the dealer the check engine light is back on and throwing a P0131 and a pending 131 & 132. We will be bringing it back in on 9/14. I’m afraid they are going to tell me that the harness has to be replaced and I understand this is a labor intensive job and very expensive.
So....any ideas? Has this same thing happened to anyone else? I hope somebody has some ideas.
