Default 2008 AC condenser leaking into wheel well

Hello -

Wanted to provide an update and hopefully help someone with the same problem...

Last year the driver's side wheel well was holding water...we determined it was from the AC condenser not draining outside the vehicle. The dealer cleaned the drain tube and all was well...for a while

This year, same problem, wet carpet from the AC condenser...nothing was draining. With the help of a friend we finally figured it out:

The drain in the firewall was letting the water out but it was flowing right back into the passenger department. It would drip out and then follow the tube right back into the car. To fix it we put a small rubber elbow on the end of it to get the water away from the firewall. No more wet carpet - water drains safely out through the elbow now instead of back into the car.

The small rubber elbow we used was actually a spark plug boot that fit perfectly onto the drain. Cheap fix...problem solved.

Hope this helps someone out.

I had the same problem with my 2008 Uplander. I read this on a forum somewhere but can't remember where. I took a small amount of silicone (RTV) and wiped it around the discharge tube and grommet making sure not to get any on the inside of the tube. It worked like a charm.
