Hello. I received a 2008 Uplander from my father after he passed away. A check engine light was on, so I ran a diagnostic, and the P0449 error code came up. I initially changed the purge valve solenoid because it's relatively inexpensive and easy to access. After deleting the code, it came back on, so I decided to replace the vapor vent valve and the charcoal canister. They're both a little hard to get to as they are on top of the gas tank. I have removed the vent valve and the hoses attached to the charcoal canister. However, I can't determine how the charcoal canister is secured to the gas tank. I have included some pictures hoping that some of you can direct me. I have only removed two of the three straps holding the gas tank. I feel like it's simply a clip that I probably need to remove. I've tugged on a few things, but I don't want to break anything.
Thank you
P0449 is a failure with the Vapor Canister Vent Valve / Solenoid on the side of the gas tank. It's this as pictured.
Before replacing this I would check the EVAP fuse in the pasenger fuse panel. And if it's not blown. Check for Power on the red wire at the solenoid. If you put a 194 bulb on the pins it will be enough to pass the code and trick the ECM to thinking it functions. If all appears to work. Replace the solenoid.
Also some may require the harness adapter as the connector was revised in new model years.
PN is 2142324 and the connector adapter is 19257603
