backup camera
As most Uplander owners know you don't see as much as you like out the back of the van, so I got one of those wireless backup cameras. The biggest problem was waiting for winter to release its grip on us. The install took about 90 minutes and it was worth it. There is that recessed square in the center of the black part of the rear bumper and with the supplied hole saw make the opening. The great thing is there is a channel back there right to the tail light assembly. Take out the 2 torx screws and the backup wire is the yellow one and black ground, just tap in and put the light back in. Now I had some squares of packing foam that I wedged in behind the bumper to keep the wires in the bumper from moving around, I hope it works long term.
Up front you mount the display unit to your suiting and wire up the red and blackwires and hide them away. That little chrome strip below and left of the steering wheel just pops right off and lets you feed wires down and out of sight.
It is pretty easy, 4 wire taps , torx screwdriver, and drill. But I would secure the wiring in the bumper and remember to make sure you have the camera right side to the top. I forgot that and had everything 90 degrees off. I worried about the camera being to low but it was not a problem. So for less than $100.00 you have a great look at what is back there and small black sports cars fit nicely under your bumper, and you might not even have a scratch, but his is usually a write off.
