Default Dextron 3 or 6??

I just bought a 2006 Chevy Uplander, the trans stick says Dextron 3 but everywhere I go and everywhere online say Dextron 6, which is it that I need? Thanks

Dex 6 is backwards compatible with 3 and 4. Go ahead and use it.

OK, thanks. The 6 is more expensive here, $10-$12 instead of $5-$7 for the 3.

it's up to you then. The 6 is a little more durable, but I couldn't tell you if it was TWICE as durable. It could help extend your transmission life as well.
