If you wanted to keep a closer tab on the CEL (check engine light) you may want to periodically check for any Pending codes (they show on a reader as "P****"), which get stored but don't turn on the light unless 3 or more of them get stored. I got my code reader for $30 mail order....nothing fancy but it helps put my mind at ease & is useful on trips. I had started this thread...someone asked me to report back after we had run a couple tanks of the E85 thru...but I chickened out, we haven't run any E85 since that first tank last year. Regular gas is labelled 10 percent Ethanol here. Just after that first E85 tankful, our local pricing on E85 jumped dramatically compared to Regular 87, so it's out of the question anyway. Now, with 50K miles I want to figure out the easiest way to change the spark plugs...gotta pull the engine forward I guess.

I know that some radio car shows and recent car magazine articles have reported that E85 can be tougher on the fuel delivery system and damage it sooner than regular gasoline would, so did I make a mistake by fillling it with E85? My wife, who has a history of being correct in these situations, said I shouldn't have succumbed to getting the E85 fuel.
E85 is an excellent solvent.it will clean your engine up.its not something you want to do long term, but it's fine in emergency. I recommend every few tanks, mix a couple gallons with your gas. It will save you alot of money and keep it clean.continuous use is not needed or recommended but will clean it up.
