Default Front End Grinding While Braking (Sometimes)

I have 91,000km on my 2006 Uplander LS. Recently started to make a grinding noise when coming to a stop, and it sounds like it's coming from the left front wheel. I pulled the wheel and the brakes are absolutely fine (replaced at 65K). Could this be a wheel bearing issue? I would think it would be grinding all the time if it was. It also recently started to occasionally flash "Service Vehicle Soon" on the message display. This is not to change the oil, and none of the service lights on the dash are on, either. (ie: check engine, ABS). Could these two things be related?

Thanks in advance.
