Default How do I know if the car comes with Stabilitrak?

Like the titel says; How do I know if the car comes with stabilitrak?

I drove a Uplander today, I was thinking about buying and the retalier says it has Anti Skip Regulation (Traction Control) and Anti Skid Regulation (Stabilitrak). Now, first of all something is wrong with the Traction Control. The warninglight is on all time and a text sayd something about Service Tire Monitor System or something like that and showed 0.00 at tire preasure. The retailer said it was beacuse it was "new" spiked tires on the car, and that text occured after the owner had shifted from summer tires - and they did not know how to get rid of it, but it was nothing to care about... (yeah, right...)

Now, it is a bit snowy outside so I hit the throttel and the front tires started spinning and the Traction Control worked well. A humming sound, a Little shaking in the steeringwheel and so, but I got the car to skip sidways without any text of the Stabilitrak. I also "looked through" the DIC and found nothing about it - so, is there a way to se if the car is have the Stabilitrak or not?

The car is a Uplander LT with 3.9 litres Engine. Year 2008.

Is your van a regular wheelbase or extended wheelbase?
In 2007 the LS extended wheelbase models did too.
Just saying you have an LS doesn't tell the whole story.

Thank you; I didn't know what this Edmund was until now. I do not live in the US - hence the bad spellings. I must say though, that the Edmunds "See All features [...]" lists that the car also has Handsfree phone and "OnStar telecommunications service" but this was not in the car. Anyway, Shouldn't a text or something like that show when the Stabilitrak engages?

I'm quite sure that van has OnStar .. it's in the overhead console with the pic of a telephone on it. You have to subscribe to take advantage of the service. Does the van not have an Owners Manual?

I live in Canada, not the US. Where do you live?

I live in Sweden. The car is supposed to be of year 2008 and imported here 2009. No, there was only three buttons in the roof, Rear Power windows, something with the door (maybe open/Close? didn't try it...) and the parking sensor on/off. I do not remember any other buttons.

I have a manual on my computer, trying to figure some things out. Like the fuel-meter. The manual shows a picture of the canadian model similar to what was in the car (with the two circles instead of E and F), but the "airbag warning sign and passanger belt" indicator is like the US model. Same thing with the Engine Coolant temp gage.

There is also no Universal Home Remote system. No roof DVD with headphones. The Heated seats button was on the chair, not on a console but on a strange on the right on the drivers seat.

Do you by any chance know how to reset the tire preasure "thingy" that says that all the tires are inflated due to a change of tires?

hi, papabear, good point.

my van is extended.

look at the rear view mirror to see if it has the onstar system or not.

to my knowledge, onstar only works in North America.

The procedure is in your owners manual - you do it with the key fob. Here it is in case you can't find it:

The TPMS sensor matching process is outlined
below:
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN with the engine off.
3. Using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter,
lock and unlock the vehicle’s doors.
4. Press and hold the RKE transmitter’s LOCK and
UNLOCK buttons at the same time, for about
three seconds. The horn chirps two times indicating
the receiver is ready for the sensor matching
process to begin.
5. Start with the driver side front tire. The driver side
turn signal lamp comes on.
6. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap stem.
Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or
decreasing the tire’s air pressure for five seconds,
or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp,
which may take up to 30 seconds to sound,
confirms that the sensor identification code has
been matched to this tire and wheel position.
7. Proceed to the passenger side front tire, and repeat
the procedure in Step 6.
8. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire, and repeat
the procedure in Step 6.
9. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the
procedure in Step 6.
10. After hearing the confirming horn chirp for the driver
side rear tire, the tire sensor matching process
ends. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
11. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure
level as indicated on the Tire and Loading
Information label.
12. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.
