Default Plus sign back of remote key?

Hello!

I am from sweden so I don't have any chevrolet dealer to ask. So I hope to get some help here

I have a plus (+) sign back of my remote fob. In the manual it states that this means it is prepared for remote start.

Now I wonder if I only have to get a remote fob with the start button. Or do I need to get something for the car itself?

Thanks for any clarification!

Car: Chevrolet Uplander LT 06

!! Start to think on it after it have snowing for a week, should be great to have

No! It is on the back, between GM part no and Battery type. See attached picture.

It seems that the car is prepared for it, because when I turn the ingnition on (to start the car) wery shortly. The engine continue to start up by it self.

Check the option list inside the glove box. It will tell you if the car has remote starter installed or not. Google internet for GM option codes. Starter turns until the engine ignites and this is normal operation for Uplander vans. Nothing to do with remote start option. Even if your van has remote starter option installed, you will need GM dealer to program your new remotes. There is no way to program the remotes on the car. Special expensive GM Tech2 tool is needed to put the computer in programming mode.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply.
I took a picture of the label and looked up the codes, se attached picture.
But I found there is differences in the code description on these pages.

http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav.../specs/RPO.pdf
http://www.compnine.com/research.php?rpo=1

On this side "AP8" doesn't even exist.

http://www.c2e.info/rpocodes/

And according to this page there is several possibilities

http://www.gm-trucks.com/rpo-code-lookup/?find=ap8

AP8 Remote vehicle starter system, prep
AP8 Remote Keyless Entry, enhanced
AP8 Remote vehicle starter prep package
AP8 Remote Keyless Entry
AP8 Remote Keyless Entry, extended-range
AP8 Remote Keyless Entry, programmable
AP8 Adaptive Remote Start, capable
AP8 RESTRAINT CARGO, NET, LH
AP8 Extended range keyless entry - standard on all trim levels

How should I now which one it is?

I can't be 100% sure, but for your model year remote start option should be listed as AP3 code. The full description on this one is "LOCK CONTROL REMOTE, KEYLESS ENTRY, START REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY & ENGINE START" or simply "Remote vehicle starter system". For 2006 model year AP8 stands for "LOCK CONTROL,REMOTE ENTRY,EXTENDED RANGE EXT RANGE REMOTE LOCK CONTROL" or "Remote Keyless Entry, extended-range".

P.S. Just checked options list on my vehicle. It has factory installed remote start option and the code AP3 is there.

It means you can buy a kit from GM and have them install it and you will have factory remote start

you cannot do this yourself as you need a tech2 and dealer code so techline will release the software for it

Am I right for AP3 option code? My remote starter works with no issues.
