Radio unlock
Hi everyone. I'm here to help my buddy out.
He has a 2006 Uplander and it's original stereo CD just decided to crap the bed a few weeks ago. I had to go to one of the local pick'n'pull to get something for his other vehicle and we saw a 2009 Uplander there with a nearly identical stereo, and seeing how I owed him money I told him I'd buy it for him.
Now that it was from a newer vehicle it needs an unlock code to sync it to his vehicle. Is there a way to retrieve it from the stereo after installation or can the circuitry be modified to disable the unlock code from inside the unit? I see videos on Youtube about doing that on other GM vehicles by removing a certain chip from inside the stereo, but they are different models so the circuit boards could be different.
Any ideas?

i dont know the answer but i know a random factoid:
i have parts to install a new stereo for this van and the back of the package basically said the parts worked on uplander/montana/terraza/relay and corvette ... maybe theres more info if you look up corvette?
alldata has been decent un my experience, worth a look if you can find it at your library for free
