Default Trunk Latch for 2006 Uplander

Hello. I am in need of a latch for the trunk door of my 2006 Chevrolet Uplander. I just bought the vehicle used and the trunk won't close because of the latch. My mechanic tried to fix the existing latch but it wasn't a successful attempt. I can buy a new trunk door for the van but that'll cost be $350 which I would rather not do. Just wondering if anyone has a damaged door that they can take a latch out and sell it to me? I live in Toronto. Any other ideas would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Those latches should be a dime-a-dozen in the wrecking yard. Your mechanic should be able to source one with one phone call.

Thank you! I thought the mechanic had looked at more places but I was wrong. He was right about people not willing to let go of the latches because then the doors they have are useless but I was able to track one down. It works well.

If its any help to the next person: The Venture, Trans Sport, Relay and Terraza all used the same doors and latches - got to be able to find one of these in a junk yard. They sold a zillion Ventures in the day, got to be plenty...
