Default 98 Venture brake bleed.

Hello everyone,

I just did a major brake job on my 98 Venture.

replaced all back drum components, couple of lines and the Master Cylinder.

My problem is I can't bleed the back brakes.

I know you have to use a computer to set the ABS pistons to the home position to be able to bleed the back. I don't have a computer to do this nor do I know anyone who does.

I have read that on 99 and older GM vehicles you can bleed the ABS cm and then bleed the fronts. Then drive very slowly for a couple of minutes and the computer will automatically set the abs pistons for the back in the home position allowing you to bleed the backs now.

Has anyone heard about this before ?

Some abs modules have to be bled seperate as well. Put a tube on your rear beefer and run it into a bottle with some brake fluid then crack the bleeder. Then fill the resivior and pump the brakes until all air is out. Easier with two people.
