Default Faulty Gas Gauge

The gas gauge on my 2000 Venture is not working correctly, it goes from full, to empty, to inbetween as we travel down the road. Would anyone know what the problem is and any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks.

I wish I knew. Mine does the same thing. My guess is the fuel level switch but I havent take the time to check it out. I'm assumeing it is in the tank and would be alot of work and mess. I just make sure my wife resets the trip odometer and refills every 270 to 300 miles.

Mine does the same thing. Sometimes when your sitting still, it will work for a few seconds. I figured the same problem, but wont get fixed until the fuel pump is replaced. Which hopefully will be never.

Hi, I had the same problem withmy 2000 Ventureand I was told it was the fuel level sending unit and $800.00 to replace. I ordered the part online for $110.00 and my husband and I did the work ourselves. It is pretty easy as my Venture has a plastic gas tank (big) and its held by 4 side to side brackets. It took us 2 hours (as we kept stoping and watching the kids) problem solved! When I inspected the unit that was in the tankI could easily see that one of the metals "teeth" was bent and that is why it was not registering the amount of fuel in the tank.

I now have another problem with my engine light comming on, I had it scanned and I get a code that indicated a small emissions leak detected (or something like that) The guys at the auto parts told me to open and close the gas cap and reset the code, well it was fine for a week and now its back on. I also have the ABS and Trac Message on!! and yes the Air Bag light too [] Any ideas?????
Thanks!
