Help with Venture Please, Cutting out.
Hey guys i am triing to fix my moms 97 venture minivan. she took to dealer they charged her a lot of money and didnt fix it, so i told her i would try to fix it for her.
So here is the issue:
When it forward gear and driving the van will litterly like cut off and right back on and jerk real hard. Almost like its lossing ignition for a sec and then coming back on. no lights on dash and no codes in it, but it jerks so hard it hurts. It does it at all speeds and at all accelerations. I have ran the van in reverse around block and it didnt do it at all, even put in drive and held brake down and gave it some gas and didnt do it, but as soon as you start rolling it does it. the tranny shifts perfect so not sure if its in that or not. Also she said a couple of times that the traction control light came on for a few secs and then went off. Any ideas would be great.
Also the Motorized passenger side sliding door does not work with button, it will open manually but not with motor, we ahve had all the recalls done but it still doesnt work, i have check the fuse and it good, so any ideas on that would be nice too. thanks

Do you have a techometer on the dash? Do the rpms drop to zero when the jerking happens? If not, it might be the torque converter lockup solenoid engaging since it only happens in forward gears. If rpms drop then you have a fuel or spark issue. Either way you will need a data logger to see what's going on. Cheap way is to buy an ODBC2 interface and software on a laptop. There is lots of shareware out there, look for something that will show you solenoid states, and graph rpm, etc. Start at scantool.net
