Question super strange starting issue.

2000 Chevy Venture. When you turn the key, the bells will ding, but it doesn't even try to start. You get nothing. If you keep the key turned hard, sometimes it will, after a few seconds, start to engage and even start. Sometimes it won't. Charging the battery seems to help it start but it still doesn't start right away. It doesn't engage and keeping the key turned will start it after about 5 seconds.
If it's just been run and turned off, it will start with no problems, no delays. Is this a battery? Starter? Help! Seems like I fix one thing and two more break. Any help would be appreciated.

Possibly "non of the above" for the vote...Since you say it can eventually start, I would look into the ignition switch first.

Have you gotten to the bottom of the problem?
