Disabling OnStar on a Volt
I'm a new poster here. I just bought a new 2012 Volt and I love it.
Does anyone know how to disable OnStar in the Volt? I know from reading around that on other Chevy's, you just find the OnStar module in the back and disconnect power to it.
I'm wondering if just pulling the OnStar fuse in the Volt (#9 on left instrument panel) would have the same effect.
Would that have other side-effects?
Would that completely prevent the two-way data transfer between OnStar and the vehicle?
I noticed there are two other fuses for Data Link. I'm sure sure if either of those has anything to do with OnStar.

Have you contacted Onstar ? If not send them an email and tell them you would like it disabled . They can do it remotely which will disable everything and even leave the Bluetooth operating. This is not just turning off Onstar but actually disableing it. It will no longer work and there will be no data transfer. If you ever want it back you will need to buy a new module . When they are done it is completely inoperable, No input No outpout , No 911 Nothing. I can give you a number if you cant get thru the CS people.
